Nicholas A. Sanders
Nick Sanders has spent nearly 40 years in Federal acquisition environment as a contractor, consultant, author, and instructor. Mr. Sanders is a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) and a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP). He provides advisory services to Government contractors in diverse industries, including those in Aerospace & Defense, Telecom, Bio-Pharmaceutical, Not-for-Profit, Technology, and Engineering & Construction. He has advised clients on a wide variety of matters, including compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Mr. Sanders has ten years of government contracts consulting experience in the “Big 4” professional accounting firms, and more than twenty years’ experience as a prime contractor in the Aerospace & Defense and Engineering & Construction industries.
During his career, Mr. Sanders has performed prime contract management, subcontract management and procurement, evaluated and enhanced internal and operational control systems, and acted as a project manager. He has performed complex cost analyses, evaluated Government audit findings, developed small business plans, and led multi-billion-dollar proposal efforts.
Mr. Sanders is the editor of two LexisNexis reference books: Accounting for Government Contracts: Federal Acquisition Regulation, and Accounting for Government Contracts: Cost Accounting Standards. He has also published many articles on topics related to Federal contracts, including “Explaining the DFARS Ground and Flight Risk Clause,” which was published in Government Contract Costs, Pricing & Accounting Report. He is a co-author of PwC’s “How to Fortify Your Supply Chain Through Collaborative Risk Management.”
Mr. Sanders is an accomplished instructor. In addition to instructing “Financial Management of Government Contracts” for San Diego State University’s Government Contracts Certificate program, he has instructed several courses for the government contract series at UCLA Extension, including “The Federal Acquisition Regulation.” Other courses he has instructed include “Cost-Reimbursement Contracting,” and “Contract Types” (Federal Publications Seminars) and “Risk Management for Complex U.S. Government Contracts and Projects (NCMA).
Mr. Sanders received a B.A. in Economics/Literature (Dual Degree) from Claremont McKenna College. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Thomson Reuter’s Government Contract Costs, Pricing & Accounting Report.
